Summertime in Whistler is magical, and there’s even more reason for art and food lovers to visit this season: Two of Whistler’s top establishments have teamed up to offer an elevated curated experience showcasing the excellence of British Columbia through visual and culinary arts.

Alta + Audain: Fine Dining Art Experience takes place every Friday evening from July 16 to September 3.

The must-do event offers an intimate guided tour of the Audain Art Museum followed by an open-air dinner beneath the stunning 56,000-square-foot building designed by Vancouver-based Patkau Architects.

Alta Bistro will be on-site in its vintage 1967 Airstream trailer, which has been retrofitted with a full kitchen. It’s quite a sight to see the juxtaposition of the iconic form and lustre of the silver mobile restaurant set against the rectilinear lines of the museum’s award-winning postmodern design.

The menu is centered on seasonal ingredients and themes to create a unique experience celebrating the flavours of B.C. There will be two menus offered this summer, one for the first four weeks, and another for the second month.

To accommodate physical distancing and COVID-19 safety protocols, each Friday-night experience will have limited capacity. Reservations must be booked in advance, with contactless payment available including timed-seating, dining details, and wine selection.

Alta + Audain: Fine Dining Art Experience is $99 per person, not including GST, gratuity, or alcohol.

Established in 2016, the Audain Art Museum is a leading arts organization founded upon the major philanthropic gift of Michael Audain and Yoshiko Karasawa. With a permanent collection of the province’s most celebrated artists, the museum exemplifies the richness of cultural difference in Canada from the late 18th century to present.

Alta Bistro is known for its outstanding modern, seasonal, alpine cuisine.
