The captivating Florian Hoefner Trio will hit the stage of the BlueShore Theatre at Capilano University for a night of beguiling originals off their Juno-winning latest album Desert Bloom, April 18 at 8 pm.

Born and raised in Germany, trained in New York City, and now based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, renowned pianist and composer Florian Hoefner draws from a myriad of influences that cumulate in his unique brand of modern jazz.

Hoefner’s impressive discography includes 15 albums total, three of which were released with his quartet, the Florian Hoefner Group, to rave reviews.

Together since 2018, his trio features bassist Andrew Downing and drummer Nick Fraser. Their Juno-nominated debut album First Spring focuses on Hoefner’s arrangements of folk tunes from around the world.

Desert Bloom, which won the 2023 Juno for Best Jazz Album by a Group features a multitude of strikingly original compositions that showcase Hoefner’s hallmark lyricism.
