Coastal Jazz and Blues Society unveils free programming at this year’s Vancouver International Jazz Festival

Fifty free shows will be held around the city from June 23 to July 2

Coastal Jazz & Blues Society has announced their exciting free programming for 2023’s Vancouver International Jazz Festival. On the lineup are 20 Downtown Jazz shows outside the Vancouver Art Gallery in the šxwƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square on June 24 and 25, and 25 Free Jazz Around Town events on Granville Island from June 23 to July 2 at Performance Works, Ocean Artworks, and the Revue Stage.

The festival will kick off at Ocean Artworks with a free opening night performance at 8:30 pm by two artists: The Fits, and Hayley Wallis and The Bright Futures.

Afro-Cuban rockstar vocalist Cimafunk, a Grammy-nominated force known for keeping things fresh and funky, will close the Downtown Jazz series on June 25 at 7:30 pm with his nine-piece band of Havana all-stars.

Additionally, three new faces are invited to join the Vancouver International Jazz Festival’s established roster of emcees via the Coastal Jazz Emcee Competition. The application deadline is May 5.
