Early Music Vancouver welcomes back the incomparable pianist Angela Hewitt for a performance at UBC’s Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on March 12 at 3 pm.

Hewitt will open with a selection of Domenico Scarlatti sonatas, move on to Johann Sebastian Bach’s English Suite No. 6 in D minor, and conclude the recital with Johannes Brahms’s Sonata in F minor Op. 5.

With a wide-ranging repertoire and frequent performances throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia, Hewitt is an award-winning recording artist whose performances of Bach have established her as one of the composer’s leading modern-day interpreters.

In 2020 Hewitt received the prestigious City of Leipzig Bach Medal, which marked the first time it was awarded to a woman in its 17-year history.

She received the Governor General’s award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement in 2018, and in 2015 she became a Companion of the Order of Canada, which recognizes her outstanding musical dedication.

Tickets for the show and more information can be found at Early Music Vancouver.
