Early Music Vancouver invites audiences to delight in the sensual and moving music of Baroque Italy with soprano Myriam Leblanc and Ensemble Mirabilia at the Christ Church Cathedral on February 16 at 7:30 pm.

Featuring expressive works by Antonio Vivaldi, Claudio Monteverdi, Barbara Strozzi, and more, this concert focuses on the improvised and fiery character of the chaconne, a Baroque dance form of Spanish origin. Along with several classics, the lineup features “Voglio Te (I Want You)” by The Beatles, plus a newly composed chaconne by flutist Grégoire Jeay.

Founded by Leblanc and Jeay, Ensemble Mirabilia performs mainly Baroque music played on period instruments. The pair are joined by violinist Chloe Meyers, bass viol player Mélisande Corriveau, baroque harp player Antoine Malette-Chénier, and keyboardist Alexander Weimann.

There will be a pre-concert chat with Leblanc and Jeay hosted by Sylvia L’Écuyer at 7 pm.

Tickets and details are available at Early Music Vancouver.
