Ensemble Theatre Company has been beyond thrilled to welcome audiences back to the theatre this year with the return of its Summer Repertory Festival.

With two gripping productions expertly staged and performed by some of Canada’s top talent, the 2022 fest wraps up this weekend at the company’s new home at Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island.

Pass Over has its final performances on June 30 and July 2 at 7:30 pm.

A provocative riff on the Book of Exodus and Waiting for Godot, Pass Over is a remarkable work of politically charged theatre by Antoinette Nwandu, a bold new voice in American Theatre. The cast features Chris Francisque, Kwasi Thomas, and Alexander Forsyth.

The final performance of Marjorie Prime takes place on July 1 at 7:30 pm.

Written by award-winning American playwright Jordan Harrison (Orange Is The New Black), the play explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits—if any—of what technology can replace. It stars Gai Brown, Bronwen Smith, Carlen Escarraga, and ETC artistic director Tariq Leslie.

The two powerful works reflect ETC’s original vision: an artist-driven theatre whose vitality is defined by its appetite for ground-breaking, innovative work.
