Friends of Chamber Music couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome back the  Bennewitz Quartet.

The exciting young Czech quartet performs on March 1 at 7:30 pm at the Vancouver Playhouse.

Despite being a relatively new ensemble, the quartet performs at major venues such as Wigmore Hall London, Musikverein Wien, Konzerthaus Berlin, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Paris and regularly performs at renowned festivals including the Salzburger Festspiele, Luzerne Festival, Rheingau Musik, Festival, Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus, and the Prague Spring.

The Bennewitz Quartet won the Classic Prague Award for best chamber music performance of 2019,

Praise for the ensemble has been building. Gramophone described its performance as  "Downright wonderful with a perfect balance of warmth and clarity”, while Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote: "... the music was remarkable not just for its clarity of structure, but for the beautiful tonal palette and purity of intonation in its execution”.

The program for the quartet’s return engagement in Vancouver features Antonin Dvorak’s Quartet #13 in G Major Opus 106, Leoš Janáček’s String Quartet No. 2 “Intimate Letters”, and Mozart’s String Quartet #4, K157.
