Friends of Chamber Music welcome back the Warsaw, Poland-based Karol Szymanowski Quartet for the group’s sole North American performance in its 25th-anniversary year. The concert takes place at the Vancouver Playhouse on March 12 at 7:30 pm.

Audiences last enjoyed the quartet’s artistry at Friends of Chamber Music in 2018 when its members were joined by Richard O’Neill (who is now violist for the Takács Quartet) to perform Mozart’s six sublime string quintets.

Guests will hear four magnificent works this time around, including Haydn’s elegant String Quartet No. 1 in B-flat Major, Schoenberg’s late-Romantic String Quartet in D Major, and Mendelssohn’s passionate String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Opus 13

Praised by the New York Times as “hard not to fall in love with”, the Karol Szymanowski Quartet will also perform an impressionistic piece by its namesake: Szymanowski’s Nocturne and Tarantella for String Quartet, Opus 28.

Tickets are at Friends of Chamber Music.
