LAKBAY by Joshua Ongcol with music by Miguel Maravilla is having its premiere on September 10 and 11 at Progress Lab 1422, presented by Rumble, in association with New Works.

In LAKBAY, which takes its name from the Tagalog word for “journey”, Ongcol meditates on patterns, cycles, and rhythms. Drawing on their mother tongue of Tagalog as well as pivotal personal experiences and journeys into the natural world of the West Coast rainforest, Ongcol intimately attunes into buried roots, breathing life into the undercurrents of their queer and Filipinx identity.

The evenings begin at 6 pm PDT with food and a karoake pre-party. At 7:45 pm, Dennis Gupa offers a Welcome prior to the 8 pm show. Following the performance is a DJ set by NI CO (Saturday only).

LAKBAY was created in March 2021 as part of Ongcol’s artist residency with Rumble and New Works.

Tickets are available on a sliding scale here. For more information, visit Rumble.
