It’s beginning to look at lot like the holidays at the Polygon Gallery (101 Carrie Cates Court). For the first time, the spectacular waterfront space has transformed its main floor into a beautifully decorated seasonal shopping destination. The focus is on independent local artists and makers with a fantastic range of original, one-of-a-kind design-forward gifts.

With so many holiday markets on hold this year, the Polygon is in a unique position to showcase a large selection of carefully curated local, artisan, and hard-to-find products in the North Vancouver Shipyards District.

Open until January 3 from 10 am to 5 pm Wednesday to Sunday (with the exception of Thursday, when it’s open till 8 pm), the Holiday Shop offers exclusive, exquisite, and well-crafted items, including homeware, jewellery, apparel, bags, books, prints, puzzles, crafts, little luxuries, self-care products, and more.

Within the retail expansion is a Little Mountain Shop’s Annual Holiday Pop-Up. Little Mountain Shop was a beloved Mount Pleasant community space that was forced to close in June due to COVID-19. The first collaboration of its kind and a new partnership, the pop-up highlights a stellar lineup of all-Canadian, mostly local, women-led vendors. Headed by Natasha Neale, Little Mountain Shop has a mandate to showcase Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour-owned brands.

Running December 2 to 27, Little Mountain Shop’s Annual Holiday Pop-Up is one of the limited opportunities for Vancouverites to locate products by these sought-after makers during the holiday season. It features brands such as Homecoming Candles, Droplet Home Goods, Lover’s Tempo, Lisa Warren Ceramics, Paper Label, Kunye, and Warren Steven Scott, among many others.

"Local Practice Architecture + Design is proud to support the Little Mountain Shop's Annual Holiday Pop-Up this year,” says Matthew Woodruff, the firm’s principal. “With their commitment to supporting local makers of all sorts, the Polygon Gallery is doing a wonderful job at highlighting the visual culture of our collective home on the Salish Sea."

The Holiday Shop is open for in-person and online shopping, with a fresh selection of merchandise, including new brands that launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, from North Shore ventures to international collectives.

The Polygon’s acclaimed bookstore, which has been moved to the building’s lobby for this holiday shopping event, showcases rare international photobooks and gallery publications.

Custom gift boxes curated by the Polygon’s retail concierge make for a creative and thoughtful way to treat colleagues, clients, friends, and family. With personalized items to show genuine appreciation to every individual, each box includes a Member for a Day pass and is beautifully custom wrapped. Gift boxes can range from $50 to $250.

Gift cards any denomination from the Holiday Shop and Bookstore may be wrapped, mailed, or paired with a gift from the holiday store.

The Polygon’s online store offers curbside pickup, contactless in-store pickup, and Canada-wide shipping.

All purchases help support the gallery’s artistic and educational programming.

Gallery members receive a 10 percent discount at the Holiday Shop and Bookstore.

New exhibitions at the Polygon Gallery open in early December, and private tours are available.
