Reel 2 Real Film Festival for Youth is bringing back Sunday Fun Day on April 10 and its popular conference and career expo on April 11.

The celebrations begin Sunday with breakfast at 10am at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre in Yaletown. Enjoy award-winning films, animation workshops, and an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, all for only $7.

The first screening program of the day is Mixed Bag Animation at 10:30 am, with films including the U.K.’s The Dip, featuring the mother of all “death drops”, as a dancer strikes a pose and dramatically falls on their back.

Big World Shorts take place at 11:30 am, with a range of animation and comedy to expand your perspective and to ask you to consider life outside of your immediate bubble.

Indigenous Spotlight – True North Edition at 12:30 pm includes award winning filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk’s animated short, Angakusajaujuq: The Shaman's Apprentice

Then, at 1:30 pm, There is More to Know  seeks a deeper connection, in films about young people stepping outside their comfort zones to bond, and foes standing off with one another.

Head back to the Roundhouse Monday for the Youth Media Conference and Behind the Scenes Career Expo.

Its YMC Shorts – Inspirations for Creators features films about films and filmmaking, including local director Christopher Auchter’s Ryan Reynolds: I’m a Laureate?.

A guest panel of industry professionals discuss the films you just watched, talk about the craft of filmmaking, and the various elements of film production in the Panel Discussion at 10:30 am.

And the Behind the Scenes Expo is Vancouver’s only film industry job fair for students. Meet professionals who can help you pursue your career in filmmaking, photography, sound design, writing, computer programming, and video games, and more.

As the festival runs to April 13, don’t miss the online High School Shorts Programs, Love, Laugh, Sex; Trust/Truth, Move and Connect, or the Youth Filmmakers’ Showcase
