Rachel Peake joins Arts Club Theatre Company's leadership team as Ashlie Corcoran departs on maternity leave
The well-known director and dramaturg will bring to life programming back in the historic Stanley Industrial Alliance Theatre
THE ARTS CLUB THEATRE Company has announced that its artistic director Ashlie Corcoran will be taking parental leave until next spring.
In her absence, Rachel Peake is becoming the new associate artistic director, programming—meaning she’ll be the one executing the company’s 2021–2022 return to the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage.
The Saskatchewan-raised Peake is well-known as a director and dramaturg in theatre and opera, at companies including Vancouver Opera, Solo Collective Theatre, Gateway Theatre, and Studio 58. From 2017 to 2020, she was the associate artistic director of the Citadel Theatre, where she led new play-development initiatives. She was the co-artistic director of Solo Collective Theatre from 2008 to 2013. She is a graduate of the University of Alberta and Studio 58.
Also helping to helm the company while Corcoran takes maternity leave is company manager Bronwyn Carradine, and associate artistic director of new plays and professional community engagement, Stephen Drover. Drover will oversee the execution of the company’s planned Listen To This Audio Play Series in 2021–2022.
