Realwheels Theatre is unleashing three bold and original scripts-in-development as part of its play-reading series Zombies, Mannequins, and Talking Heads. Created by playwrights who identify with disability, the pieces will be presented at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre from May 9 to 11 at 7 pm.

Jordyn Wood’s Vascular Necrosis, in association with Bramble Theatre Collective on May 9, is a zombie-trope subversion that explores identity, chronic illness, and belonging; Alex Masse’s Faye’s Room, in association with the frank theatre company on May 10, centres an autistic lesbian who works at a queer café. Partnered with Neworld Theatre, Adam Grant Warren’s Saturday Nights at Axles on May 11 follows travel YouTuber and wheelchair-user Ramona Peet, who returns to her smalltown haunt with a camera after 10 years of international success.

A launch party will kick things off on May 8 at 7 pm, and there will be a panel discussion for all three plays on May 12 at 12:30 pm.
