The 6th edition of Turkish Tunes, a community music event by the Turkish-Canadian Society, will be held at the Fei & Milton Wong Experimental Theatre on September 9 in partnership with SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs.

Come listen and dance to folk, jazz, pop, and classical Turkish music from the multicultural land of Anatolia (the peninsula where Asia and Europe meet). The show features choirs, bands, and musicians, including Istanbul the Band, Brenna MacCrimmon, Fuat Tuaç, Merve Tasdelen, the Vancouver Youth Choir, Group Dost, Ekinsu Durgun, and Group Altin.

Held for the first time in 2009, Turkish Tunes’s mission is to introduce the rich genres of Turkish music to a wider Canadian audience. A trademark of the event is its friendly, social ambiance. During the cocktail reception and intermissions, guests can mix and mingle with catered snacks and drinks from the cash bar.

Tickets for the event are available here.
