Little Miss Higgins.

 
 

Jolene Higgins, known by her stage name Little Miss Higgins, brings her unique mix of early country blues, jazz, and folk music to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on September 29 from 7:30 pm to 9 pm.

A three-time Western Canadian Music Award-winner, Higgins is a Manitoba-based songwriter and musician born in Brooks, Alberta, and raised in Independence, Kansas. She’s been nominated for JUNO Awards and Maple Blues Awards, and has shared a stage with acclaimed Canadian artists spanning blues act Big Dave McLean, country singer-songwriter Corb Lund, and folk band The Deep Dark Woods.

Higgins’s most recent album, 2017’s My Home, My Heart, earned her a nomination for Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2018. Her six other releases include 2007’s popular Junction City, and 2013’s Bison Ranch Recording Sessions with her quintet, the Winnipeg Five.
