The 7 Fingers is a Montreal-based arts collective unlike any other. Known for death-defying acrobatics, signature theatricality, and story-telling, the contemporary company redefines circus by stripping down the spectacle to its thrilling essence.

In September 2020, amid the global pandemic, the 7 Fingers embarked on an entirely new adventure. Prioritizing their collective health while quenching their thirst to create and collaborate, they gathered colleagues, artists, and designers to create a spectacular show that embraces social distancing and other COVID-19 safety measures. With the support of Conseil des arts et lettres du Quebec and of La Tohu, the 7 Fingers created Out of Order. Then Montreal became a red zone, and Out of Order could not be performed for live audiences.

Rather than let the show disappear before it came to life, it was transformed into a film—not merely a digital recording of a show but a cinematographic work in its own right.

The Cultch presents the North American premiere of Out of Order with four streamed performances: March 18, 19, and 20 at 7:30 pm PST and March 21 at 12 pm PST. Opening night, March 18, features a post-show Zoom talkback with members of the creative team.

Directed by Isabelle Chassé and Gypsy Snider and with an original sound and music design by Colin Gagné, Out of Order features 10 gloved and masked characters in a post-apocalyptic setting where the big top is achingly deserted. As forgotten acrobats, the cast members play with the notions of bourgeoisie, poverty, power, and pleasure in a daring online circus experience unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

Single tickets along with a group discount are available so you can watch show ‘together’ with your family and friends from the comfort of each of your own homes. Purchase 6 livestream tickets for the same performance date to get a 17 percent discount! Viewing with captions will be available for all performances.
