The Cinematheque and Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC present the second annual Vancouver Greek Film Festival from June 1 to 4, an in-person event hosted at The Cinematheque.

With a focus on the contributions of Greek filmmakers to cinema history and culture, the festival will show audiences a myriad of stories about the human condition which offer intimate, eclectic, and universal insights into the minds of Hellenic artists.

Highlights include a 35mm presentation of Elia Kazan’s epic America America on June 1 at 7 pm; famed Greek filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos’s recently restored first feature Reconstruction; a collection of Hellenic Film Academy Award-winning female-directed dramatic shorts and features; and Olympia, a feature-length documentary tribute to the late Olympia Dukakis, on June 4 at 7 pm.

The film festival kicks off a lineup of Greek Heritage Month events, culminating in the beloved Greek Day on Broadway street festival on June 25.

Tickets and more information can be found at The Cinematheque.
