The Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs is joined by the West Coast Symphony Orchestra to present Beethoven’s monumental Missa Solemnis at the Orpheum Theatre, April 8 at 7:30 pm.

A deeply personal work composed over a period of four years, Beethoven considered Missa Solemnis to be among his greatest works, inscribing at the top of the score “From my heart – may it go to the heart”. It was performed for the first time in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in April 1824.

Led by conductor Leslie Dala, the upcoming performance will feature soprano Robyn Driedger-Klassen, mezzo soprano Katie Fernandez, tenor Scott Rumble, and bass Neil Craighead.

The West Coast Symphony was originally founded in the early 1970s. It has since grown to become a full-fledged orchestra which presents seven programs each season across the Lower Mainland and beyond.

Tickets for the concert, along with more information about the event, are available at the Vancouver Bach Choir.
