Since the pandemic, the concert programs of choirs worldwide have taken a striking turn towards music from the last decade. While the Vancouver Chamber Choir is very much a child of its time in this sense, it also presents choral classics to its audiences throughout its extensive concert season.

Sacred & Profane is a case in point. The Vancouver Chamber Choir is performing in its larger iteration of 24 singers for this Christ Church Cathedral concert on March 8 at 7:30 pm.

Alongside novel compositions by Andrew Balfour, Ramona Luengen, and Alex Freeman, the lineup features such classics as Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir, Curse Upon Iron by Veljo Tormis, and Sacred and Profane by Benjamin Britten.

On March 15 at 7:30 pm, an additional performance of Sacred & Profane will be presented by the Valley Concert Society at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford.

Tickets are at the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
