Vancouver Chamber Choir celebrates the warm weather ahead with SPRINGTIME at the Orpheum Theatre on April 2 at 2:30 pm, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Jane Coop.

In addition to performing solo works by Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, Coop will play alongside the choir in three classical Joseph Haydn songs, and two pieces by French prodigy Lili Boulanger. She will also join in for two contemporary works—B.C. composer Ramona Luengen’s Celebremus, and the world premiere of a piece by Iranian-Canadian composer Iman Habibi called Snow-Veiled Flower.

Two other pieces will make their world premieres during the concert: Swedish composer Jacob Mühlrad’s a cappella novelty Ay li lu (somewhere in infinity), based on a Yiddish lullaby with references to Mühlrad’s Jewish background; and Blake’s “Seasons” by Toronto-based composer Colin Eatock.

Originally from Saint John, N.B., Coop is a three-time Juno award nominee, and in 2012 was appointed to the Order of Canada for her lifetime achievement in music.

Tickets for SPRINGTIME are available at the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
