Vancouver Opera closes its 2023-24 season with Georges Bizet’s most beloved opera, Carmen, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on April 27, May 2, and May 4 at 7:30 pm, and April 28 and May 5 at 2 pm.

It has been nearly 10 years since Vancouver Opera’s last production of Carmen, and the stage is set for passion, drama, and world-class talent. Rachel Peake returns to the company to direct alongside conductor Leslie Dala for a five-show engagement of seductive arias, richly coloured melodies, and rhythmic vibrancy.

Animated by an all-star cast, the conflicting worlds and failed romance of the sensual, rebellious Carmen and the possessive military man Don José burst off the stage in a story that intertwines the political and the personal.

Carmen has already eclipsed all previous Vancouver Opera box office records, and audiences are encouraged to book tickets now to avoid disappointment.

Tickets and more details are at Vancouver Opera.
