Vancouver Opera will conclude its 2022-23 season with The Flying Dutchman at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, on April 29 and May 4 at 7:30 pm, and May 7 at 2 pm.

Based on a European maritime legend, The Flying Dutchman tells the haunting story of a sailor and his daughter who encounter a ghost during a storm on the sea. The Dutchman, who has been condemned to wander for eternity, is searching for a bride to finally bring him peace.

This tragic tale of love and sacrifice by famed composer Richard Wagner is sung in German and will feature English subtitles. The stunning production, conceived for Vancouver Opera by director Brian Deedrick, will be led by conductor Leslie Dala.

Greg Dahl will play the Dutchman, accompanied by castmates Marjorie Owens, Richard Wiegold, Wookyung Kim, Scott Rumble, and Megan Latham.

Dynamic projections for the show are created by Wlad Woyno, lighting designer Gerald King, costumer designer Erik Teague, and scenic designer Craig Alfredson.

More information and tickets for the show are available at Vancouver Opera.
