Vetta Chamber Music’s second program of the season explores the deep connections between Bach and Mendelssohn. It will be performed by the organization’s all-woman ensemble, back by popular demand, on December 2 at West Point Grey United Church, December 3 at Kay Meek Arts Centre, December 4 at Pyatt Hall, and December 5 at ArtSpring on Salt Spring Island.

This is the second concert in a new mentorship program, with four of the players being young professionals or university students just beginning their careers as professional musicians.

Those artists at the early stages of their careers are mentored by seasoned professionals who regularly play with Vetta.

The program includes Mendelssohn’s String Sinfonia No. 1, “Sinfoniesatz” in C major and Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in D minor.

The players are Christina Hutton harpsichord; Joan Blackman, Jae-Won Bang, Molly MacKinnon, and Yiyi Hsu violins; Katrina Chitty and Rebecca Ruthven violas; Amy Laing and Min Jee Yoon cellos; and Meaghan Williams bass.

The concert at Kay Meek Arts Centre on Saturday, December 3, 7:30pm will be a fundraiser for the Food Bank. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Food Bank. You can book your ticket directly at Vetta Presents: Bach and Mendelssohn — Kay Meek Arts Centre.
