Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) kicks off its Back to the 80s summer series on June 29 at the VIFF Centre with an Opening Night Party from 6 pm, featuring a special screening of Back to the Future, introduced by its Director of Photography Dean Cundey, at 7:30 pm.

A youthful Michael J. Fox is small-town teen Marty McFly, propelled to the Eisenhower era by his friend Doc Brown’s souped-up DeLorean. Packed with knowing Oedipal comedy and irresistible ingenuity, the film itself hasn’t changed, but perhaps the way audiences see it has.

Before the movie screening, guests can experience a time-travelling musical medley from vocal trio The Dimes, an 80s cocktail (or mocktail) on the house, pop culture trivia, and a first look at VIFF’s in-house 80s Video Rental Lounge. Attendees are invited to dress in their best—or worst—80s fashion to win a series pass.

The 60-show series is on until August 31. Tickets to the Opening Night Party are available here.
