Vancouver Chopin Society is thrilled to present pianist Zlata Chochieva on November 20 at 3 pm at the Vancouver Playhouse.

When Chochieva made her Vancouver debut in November of 2019, audience members were both stunned and moved by her playing of Chopin and Rachmaninoff. Geoffrey Newman of Vancouver Classical Music named her recital one of Vancouver’s three best classical-music events of the season.

Her last album on Naïve label, Chiaroscuro (May 2022), a combination of Mozart and Scriabin, was crowned Critic’s Choice in International Piano Magazine.

Her previous recording on Accentus label, (Re)Creations: Piano Transcriptions by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Friedman, was universally praised for the originality of its concept as well as her stunning pianism, and won the Shallplattenkritik Award. Her recording of Chopin’s Études was selected as an Editor’s Choice and was also named as one of 10 greatest Chopin recordings.

Local audiences can discover why musicians and critics alike have been running out of superlatives in describing the artistry and pianism of this spectacular young talent in her upcoming Vancouver concert.
