The Dance Centre’s popular Discover Dance! series is closing its season, streaming a digital program featuring Goh Ballet until June 17.

Featuring members of the Goh Ballet Youth Company and Goh Ballet Academy’s Senior Professional Division, the performance includes award-winning solos by dancers who recently won top prizes at international competitions, as well as ensemble works.

Goh Ballet is often associated with classical ballet, but the performance also includes contemporary works and Chinese traditional dances.

Goh Ballet Academy has an international reputation as a dance training institution, and its graduates have gone on to perform with leading dance companies all over the world.

The Academy was founded by Choo Chiat Goh and Lin Yee Goh in 1978 and is now under the direction of their daughter Chan Hon Goh, former Principal Ballerina of the National Ballet of Canada.

The Dance Centre has been presenting the Discover Dance! series since 2002, highlighting the range and diversity of BC’s dance scene. Over the years, the performances have featured everything from African, ballroom, bhangra, bharata natyam, Bollywood, Chinese, contemporary, and flamenco, to Highland, hip hop, Indigenous, Japanese, Métis, samba, tap and Thai dance—and more.
