For its final Digidance offering this season, DanceHouse is presenting Israel’s premiere contemporary dance company Batsheva Dance Company in Hora - The Movie.

Resident choreographer Ohad Naharin provides an intimate, tender and disturbing glimpse into a parallel universe. In this dark world, the dancers emerge from a black space to the music of Isao Tomita, their bodies delineating a human-dance calligraphy, like a code that is constantly being written and erased.

This is Naharin’s second dance film, in which he adapts what was originally stage choreography for the screen, creating a new piece. This cinematic reinterpretation adds a new layer to the work, using the movement of the camera, as well as editing effects such as acceleration, deceleration, transitions and cuts to fashion new creative expressions within Hora. The stream includes a post-show interview with the choreographer.

Hora - The Movie is available to stream in Canada from January 9 to 29. Find more information here.
