Indian Summer Festival presents Closing Party featuring Madison McFerrin on July 16 from 8 to 11:30 pm at Performance Works

MADISON MCFERRIN COMES BY her talent naturally, as the daughter of legendary musician Bobby McFerrin. The Brooklyn-based indie singer-songwriter will make her Vancouver debut when she closes out the 2022 Indian Summer Festival.

Questlove dubbed McFerrin’s transcendental sound as “soul-cappella” upon listening to her critically acclaimed a cappella EP series, Finding Foundations. Having recently toured Europe and the U.S., she is also the curator and host of this year’s Summer Fridays at Brooklyn Bridge Park, bringing people together to “release, restore, and rejoice”.

Opening for McFerrin is Ruby Singh, the evening program’s co-curator. He’ll share his kraKIN project, a “More-Than-Human Hip Hop Collaboration”; listen for birds, frogs, and the marine score of Desolation Sound.

DJ Kookum will team up with DJ LIL India to get people dancing, while the interdisciplinary Chimerik Collective provides visual, digital wizardy.

“Even though the ISF closing event is on July 16, there’s one more hurrah before the fest wraps up for 2022. ISF Sound System is a free music stage in the heart of the Granville Island Public Market courtyard. It will be home to classical and contemporary South Asian tunes on July 17 from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, with singers, sitar players, tabla masters, and more.
