Kokoro Dance presents the world premiere of LSD at KW Production Studio opening April 2 at 7 pm, in collaboration with U.K.-based visual and performance artist Jonathan Baldock.

LSD (which stands for Love, Sex, and Death) is the intimate choreographic work of Kokoro Dance’s artistic directors Barbara Bourget and Jay Hirabayashi. In a joint artist statement, the pair describe the new work as “not macabre, but maybe a little psychedelic. It is not a linear narrative. It is the culmination of our 45-year journey in dance with each other, a journey shared with many outstanding artists.”

Hirabayashi and Bourget are joined in LSD by their collaborator of over 30 years Salomé Nieto, and Ballet Edmonton alumna Allison Lang. The piece’s soundtrack honours Kokoro Dance’s late musical director Robert J. Rosen. Lighting design is by Gerald King, and costume and set design is by Baldock.

Tickets to LSD are available through Kokoro Dance.
