New Works presents All Over the Map in partnership with CMHC Granville Island, a free annual series of outdoor dance and music performances taking place at the Granville Island Picnic Pavilion on August 13 at 1 pm and 3 pm.

Opening the mixed bill is MDUNDO WA EAST AFRICA, a work choreographed by Ugandan dancer and drummer Edward Sembatya that combines movements and rhythmic sequences from diverse East African Tribes.

Alongside Sembatya, New Works welcomes north Indian Kathak dancer Fiana Kawane performing lively excerpts from her full-length production Nrityavandan: Ode to Dance.

Next on the lineup is Colombian-Canadian flamenco dancer Jhoely Triana’s work Arboles, a piece that represents honouring one’s roots with live flamenco dance, song, guitar, and percussion amongst the trees.

Rounding out the bill are interdisciplinary artists Alyssa Amarshi, Thelonious Lee Dexter, and Kevin Li of the collective Earthen Bodies presenting The Lichenized Movement, an exploration into the cosmic existence of lichen.
