New Works presents MERGE, a mixed bill from Toronto’s Naishi Wang, North Vancouver’s Nyla Carpentier, and Vancouver-based contemporary dance training company Modus Operandi on April 14, 7:30 pm at the Roundhouse Performance Centre.

Wang marks the first out-of-province artist New Works has brought to the city in a number of seasons. The dancer will share his celebrated piece Taking Breath, a stirring solo performance which seeks to address the climate crisis in every facet of the surrounding world—even the air we breathe.

From the Tahltan and Kaska First Nations, Carpentier brings over 35 years of Powwow experience to the table in her latest creation, which explores her contemporary choreographic voice through the lens of Powwow. The piece was developed with support from a New Works Creative Studio Residency.

Rounding out the bill, New Works welcomes Modus Operandi to the stage, with works by its artistic directors Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond.

Tickets to MERGE, which is presented in partnership with the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation, are available here.
