New Works continues its 30th season celebration with a month of community-centred workshops for dancers and dance teachers alike in October.

On October 21, New Works presents Dancing Through the Decades: A Day of Community Workshops. Each of the free workshops at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre are led by artists supported or presented by New Works within different decades. The lineup features Métis Jigging with V’ni Dansi, Body as Earth with Alvin Tolentino of Co.Erasga, and Balla with Cristina Bucci of OURO Collective.

On the flip side, New Works invites dance teachers into the studio for the In Practice workshop series, designed to engage professional development and conversation. The six-workshop lineup kicks off with two conversations at the Scotiabank Dance Centre: Reaching Out, Reaching In with Lara Barclay on October 15, and Interdisciplinary Approaches with Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg and Matt Clarke on October 29.
