The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is set to present Noxious, a new contemporary dance work that explores pollution in its many forms, from November 16 to 19.

The dance creation by Paras Terezakis, artistic director/choreographer of Kinesis Dance somatheatro, aims to open a dialogue on toxicity and pollution– not simply as it applies to Planet Earth, but, most importantly, to our minds. The toxicity that enters our inner self over a lifetime affects who we are, who we become, and how we interact and navigate through life—and thus our footprint on the Earth. The inspiration for this new work grew out of four years of research.

In the dance piece, being entangled in plastic becomes a metaphor for the anguish and sorrow that one can feel when enduring the many forms of loss and destruction—but ultimately the piece works toward hope and reckoning.
