North Vancouver City Library celebrates BC Culture Days with poetry, October 14
The virtual poetry event features a Q&A with the artists
NVCL’s Poetry Night for BC Culture Days takes place on October 15, 5 to 6:30 pm.
LOCAL POETS AND spoken-word artists of diverse cultural backgrounds will Zoom in for this free BC Culture Days event hosted by the North Vancouver City Library.
Taking place October 15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the virtual poetry night features interdisciplinary artist Johnny D Trinh, who weaves spoken word with music, video, social media, movement, theatre, and creative technology; Soramaru Takayam, who hosts an annual event called Japanese Poets North of the 49th to bridge Canada and Japan through poetry; Me-An Laceste, whose travels throughout the Philippines, Kenya, and Canada influence her poetry; and high-school student Anita Movazzafi.
Registration required by noon on October 14 via NVCL.
Gail Johnson is a Vancouver-based journalist who has earned local and national nominations and awards for her work. She is a certified Gladue Report writer via Indigenous Perspectives Society in partnership with Royal Roads University and is a member of a judging panel for top Vancouver restaurants.
