The Dance Centre presents the 22nd annual Scotiabank Dance Centre Open House on September 16 from 12 pm to 5 pm, along with a ticketed show premiere at 8 pm.

Spanning bellydance, Bollywood, contemporary, flamenco, and Latin, the event offers an opportunity to sample a host of exciting dance styles in an afternoon of free classes and events. The companies featured include Voirelia Dance Hub, Flamenco Rosario, TomoeArts, Shiamak Vancouver, LFS Dance, and more.

The evening also marks the premiere of The African Dream, created by Rwandan-born dancer Isaac Gasangwa (aka Izo Dreamchaser). It follows the life of a young man growing up in the aftermath of Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, and his determination to create a better world for the future. The work draws on African dance, hip hop, and martial arts, in an inspiring tribute to Black resilience and hope.

More information, plus tickets to The African Dream, can be found here.
