Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is presenting the premiere of nonprofit dance company Voirelia Hub’s piece De/Formed Revival, which will run from March 30 to April 1 with shows at 8 pm.

De/Formed Revival blends physically rigorous contemporary dance with Renaissance art visuals. Three dancers—Hana Rutka, Ben DeFaria, and Will Jessup—will take the audience on a poignant journey of self-discovery with movement reminiscent of sculptures coming to life.

The new piece from choreographer and artistic director Alina Sotskova asks how a person might emerge from the mold that someone else has built around them while exploring how gender norms are transported through time. In a struggle to let go of external opinions, the dancers find moments of real connection that make the fight worth it.

De/Formed Revival was brought to fruition with the help of artistic associate Margarida Macieira and artistic advisor Idan Cohen.

Tickets for the show are available for purchase here.
