Just in time for the 40th anniversary of Rocky III’s premiere, Théâtre la Seizième is bringing a hit stage production that centres around the boxing flick to Vancouver.

Produced by France’s Le CENTQUATRE-PARIS and steeped in 1980s nostaliga, Stallone tells the story of Lise, whose humdrum life is turned upside down after she sees Rocky III and has an epiphany. Following the example of the veteran boxing champ who takes one more shot in the ring, Lise throws herself into another attempt at her medical studies, Seizing control of her destiny by following actor Sylvester Stallone’s career step by step.

Pianist Pascal Sangla accompanies the show, deconstructing the famous hit “Eye of the Tiger”, with actor Clotilde Hesme— who won a Molière award for this role—taking centre stage with a heartfelt and riveting performance.

The show is based on a novel of the same name, written by French writer Emmanuèle Bernheim, and the two appearances here, September 13 and 14 at the Newmont Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre, join two in New York City as the only ones in North America.

Info and tickets are here.
