Local dance company Dance//Novella is unveiling an exciting new work for The Dance Centre’s popular Discover Dance! noon series on April 25.

Night is the Mother is inspired by dreams: it follows six characters (Bryn Bridgen, Kiera Hill, Yuha Tomita, Juan Duarte, Will Jessup, and Tara Williamson Campbell) as they band together and try to survive in a fantastical landscape of shifting realities.

Founded in 2019 by former Ballet BC artists Racheal Prince and Brandon Lee Alley, Dance//Novella has quickly gained a reputation for bold and theatrical creations. Works include When The Walls Come Down, a groundbreaking collaboration with deaf artist Caroline Hébert, and STANCE, exploring social unrest and protest.

The Dance Centre has presented the Discover Dance! series since 2002, highlighting the diversity of BC’s dance scene in an informal, accessible format. Featured dance genres span bhangra, ballet, flamenco, Métis jigging, and beyond.

Tickets and more details are at The Dance Centre.
