The Vancouver Short Film Festival’s just-announced online 2021 program throws the spotlight on innovative BC creations.

Featuring an expanded array of everything from comedies to thought-provoking documentaries, the fest streams from January 22 to 24.

The programming was inspired by the resilience British Columbia’s film community during this pandemic year. To celebrate its talent, the event has grown to include 61 short films premiering over three days.

Popular programs are back, including After Dark, a double-feature grindhouse-style screening of 15 terrifying, experimental short films.

Also watch for new work from some of this province’s strongest emerging talent, with 11 student films from seven schools.

Fest highlights include the sci-fi flick “Watershed”, starring Riverdale’s Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale); the dark comedy A “New Leash on Life”, costarring Corner Gas’s Fred Ewanuick and Nancy Robertson; and the LGBTQ thriller/drama “The Quieting”, directed by Bomb Girls’ Ali Liebert and starring Sara Canning and Julia Sarah Stone.
