Surrey Civic Theatres

PERFORMANCE MEETS COMMUNITY at Surrey Civic Theatres, owned and operated by the City of Surrey and spread across three venues: the Main Stage and Studio Theatre inside the Surrey Arts Centre, and Centre Stage located inside Surrey City Hall.

The stages play host to a busy schedule of high-quality performing arts from classical music and dance from a variety of cultures, through to socially engaged theatre productions for all ages, as well as numerous community events. Events held on in the venues are both programmed by Surrey Civic Theatres’ staff, as well as presented by organizations and individuals who rent the theatres. 

Surrey Civic Theatres also support the training and development of emerging artists through performing arts classes and workshops, including day camps for children, youth, and adults. Year-round events, activities, and programs introduce young people to the magic of the performing arts. As part of Surrey Civic Theatres family programming, Surrey SPARK Stages offers spectacular performing arts events and activities for kids and families at an annual three-day weekend event in May and throughout the year. Year-round SPARK offerings might range from Alt-Mix’s multimedia mix of music, video, and technology to the off-kilter Epidermis Circus.

Surrey Civic Theatres also plays regular host to touring Arts Club Theatre Company productions like the hilarious holiday hit Mom’s the Word: Talkin’ Turkey and playwright David Auburn’s Summer, 1976.

Elsewhere, daytime Coffee Concerts bring unique spins on classical music to the Main Stage at Surrey Arts Centre, while comedians, bands, and tribute acts like Cabaret of Legends and The Dreamboats regularly take the stage at the same venue.

Surrey Civic Theatres are built on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish people, including the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen) and se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) Nations, and SCT is honoured to work and learn on land they have stewarded since time immemorial.
