Cornucopia takes place Thursdays through Sundays from November 4 to 28 at various venues in Whistler.

IT’S A GOURMET way to spend time in the mountains before ski season starts, and Cornucopia, Whistler’s celebration of food and drink, is marking its silver anniversary this year.

Signature events include Winery Speed Dating, a seminar-inspired evening with tastings from 10 different wineries; and BC House Party, a buffet-style dinner with local ingredients and B.C. wine (as well as a live performance by DJ Dakota).

Drink seminars include Chardcore, which will explore regional differences among BC-grown and made Chardonnays, including those from the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys as well as Lillooet; sommelier Kurtis Kolt offers A Tour of BC Wine Country. As part of the Culinary Stage Series, chef Julian Bond will teach people how to make a “seacuterie” board, made with exclusively BC seafood (through the support of Organic Ocean).

Highlights of the restaurant and bar events include the Winemakers Dinner at Fairmont Chateau Whistler featuring Little Engine, while Nita Lake Lodge executive chef Ryan Blackwell teams up with Time Winery executive chef AK Campbell.

A collaboration between Four Seasons Whistler, Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, and Fort Berens Estate Winery sees SLCC executive chef Felix Breault and SIDECUT's executive sous chef Sajish Kumar join forces for a four-course tasting menu that blends First Nations techniques with fresh, regional ingredients. Each dish will be paired with a wine from Lillooet’s Fort Berens to highlight the terroir of the region. Diners also have the opportunity to join a What We Treasure tour of Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, guided by the centre’s cultural ambassadors.

There’s much more, with 125 culinary events happening through the month.
