Carousel THeatre for Young People streams 蝦仔 Little Shrimp from April 8 to May 2

A BRAVE Little Shrimp with a big heart takes listeners on a musical journey through an underwater world to explore family relationships in Chinese culture, in the newest AudioPLAY from Carousel Theatre for Young People.

The unique bilingual project, called 蝦仔 Little Shrimp, draws its title from century-old, Cantonese term of endearment for a small child, denoting a kinship between kids and the adults.

The project is helmed by local theatre artists Nancy Tam and Derek Chan. It aims to look at what connects us, whether it’s language, food, traditions, or the stories that are passed on from generation to generation.

Tam and Chan perform the work alongside Howard Dai, Natalie T.Y. Gan, and Robyn Jacob.

The AudioPLAY experience has interactive elements, and marks the third and final show in Carousel’s season of screen-free pandemic-era productions.
