Launching on August 27, Glitch Theatre’s Arc One podcast series brings together 10 emerging D/disability-identified artists performing new short works. Pieces range from stories to monologues to dramatic scenes, and were first performed for a live audience at the Roundhouse this past May, accompanied by live-mixed sound and music by Mishelle Cuttler. The entire evening was recorded by sound designer Malcolm Dow—and now listeners can experience it over the next 10 weeks, one amazing artist at a time.

Each piece runs five to seven minutes long, but these aren’t excerpts. They aren’t previews of something bigger. Every episode of the Arc One podcast is its own listening experience.

“That was a huge goal of the project,” says Adam Grant Warren, Glitch’s co-artistic director and Arc One facilitator. “Especially in presenting D/disability-identified artists, we wanted to move beyond celebrating first drafts and fragments. Arc One is made up of sharp, polished words that will live on as part of much larger conversations across Arcs Two and Three in our coming seasons.”

On August 27, the podcast will debut with “Duende” by Isabel Miller. Kyla Dowling’s “Blossies” drops September 3, Gary Tam’s “Roadkill” airs September 10, and Cass McKenzie’s “Her Necklace” comes out September 17. Arc One also features “RIP Anton Chekhov, You Would’ve Loved KN95 Masks and Air Purifiers” by Elijah Curror, “Lucy” by Jessica Hood, “Not in Order” by Helen Jiang, “A Wolf’s World” by Sunny Daydream Chen, and “Words I Kept” by Carmen Josephine Lee. The series closes on October 29 with “Chasing Daylight” by Desirée Leal.
