Stirred, Not Shaken is Stir’s cocktail series featuring locally made drinks. Sometimes, the beverages are shaken.

BEING STUCK AT home doesn’t mean you have to be stuck drinking beer or wine (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Born in response to the pandemic, cocktail kits are here to stay, a boon for those who like fancy drinks but wouldn’t know the difference between a Fizz and a Flip.

The women-led team of Sabrine Dhaliwal and Lily Duong at the Chickadee Room has come to the rescue with four new “half kits”. The boxes get their name from the fact that each has the makings for two types of cocktails, complete with step-by-step recipes.

If gin is your thing, for instance, your preferred kit features ingredients Preach It (with their house-made “lem-peach-ment”, plus a dehydrated orange for garnish) and Thrown for a Loupe (with fresh cantaloupe juice).

Find tequila tantalizing? The duo’s half kit contains everything you need to make I Wanna Dance With Somebody (with house-made orange-and-allspice-cinnamon syrup) and a Tequila Sunset (with hibiscus and pineapple juice).

There is also a rum-based kit and one with Cognac, each with different Chickadee-made syrups and juices.

Available pickup after 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays at the Chickadee Room (182 Keefer Street), the kits start at $50 and have enough for three servings each, or six cocktails total.
