Vancouver favourite Aché Brasil brings the exuberant culture and rhythms of Brazil to the Scotiabank Dance Centre stage on March 28 at 12 pm for this month’s edition of The Dance Centre’s Discover Dance! noon series.

The company performs folkloric Afro-Brazilian dances and music, including the famous dance-martial art hybrid capoeira—an exciting display of acrobatics, kicks, and self-defence tactics accompanied by the irresistible sound of the berimbau musical bow.

Famed for its dynamic performances, Aché Brasil has presented thousands of shows to enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim at festivals, theatres, and events all over North America. The word “Aché” stems from Yoruba, meaning “all things positive”, and the company aims to bring this spirit to all its work.

The Dance Centre has presented the Discover Dance! series since 2002, highlighting the diversity of B.C.’s dance scene in an informal, accessible format.

Tickets to see Aché Brasil are at The Dance Centre.
