ONE WAY TO celebrate International Women’s Day is to support women-led businesses. Here in Vancouver, with so much female talent in the culinary arts, there are some tasty ways to do just that.

The North Shore Women’s Centre and Anatoli Souvlaki are pairing up this International Women’s Day for a take-out meal event benefitting the centre and celebrating girls and women across the North Shore, all through delicious Greek food. Providing support and services in English and Farsi, the NSWC offers a drop-in resource centre, single mom’s support group, family law clinic, girls empowerment summer camp, health and wellness programs, basic computer training, and more. By purchasing a $75 ticket, people can call Anatoli to order from a set menu that will be available to March 14. Dinner options include chicken and lamb souvlaki, spanakopita, and vegan moussaka, all served with Greek salad, roast potatoes, rice, and tzatziki. For information, visit eventbrite.ca.

As an all-women social enterprise that specializes in Syrian cuisine, Tayybeh is partnering with female-led brands for a new gift box. Thirty percent of proceeds will go to the not-for-profit Atira Women's Resource Society, which works to end violence against women. Tayybeh’s International Women's Day gift box includes its Mutabbal (Smoked Eggplant Dip) and Pita Chips as well as vegan ribs by Asha Wheeldon’s Kula Kitchen; Kindred Cultures’ Strawberry Rosehip Water Kefir; Salted Double Chocolate Cookie by Erin Ireland at To Live For Bakery;  Mango Chutney by Alia Sunderji’s Luv the Grub; Panela Lemon’s Peanut Butter Filled Cookie; and Treats by Sabby’s Hot Cocoa Bomb

Miki Ellis, co-owner of Dachi and Ugly Dumpling, has organized a Women in Organic Wine package to recognize International Women’s Day. Priced at $175, the pack includes three bottles of natural wine: a bottle of certified biodynamic and organic from Austria’s Rennersistas, run by sisters Stefanie and Susanne Helmuth; a Blanc de Noir made of estate grown Pinot Noir from Summerland’s Lightning Rock Winery led by Jordan Kubek; and an orange wine from Coenobium, made from grapes grown and raised by the Roman Catholic Sisters of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance in Lazio, Italy. There’s also a Dachi tote bag and a copy of Pipette, a natural wine magazine. To order, visit dachivancouver.com.

Coho Collective is marking International Women’s Day with a new version of its Women-Led Box.
