Dreamwalker Dance Company takes audiences to the stars as part of ExplorASIAN Festival, to May 30
Dance artist Andrea Nann and shadow-puppet master Annie Katsura Rollins explore family lineage
Firehorse and Shadow is an interactive web experience.
Firehorse and Shadow runs online until May 30 as part of ExplorASIAN Festival 2021.
WITH VANCOUVER ASIAN Heritage Month Society marking its 25th anniversary this year, the ExplorASIAN Festival has more than 50 ways to celebrate virtually all throughout May.
One of the highlights now on is Firehorse and Shadow. An experiential and interactive web performance by Dreamwalker Dance Company, the event blends elements of contemporary dance, shadow puppetry, animation, film, and theatre to take people on a journey among the stars.
Dreamwalker founder and veteran dance artist Andrea Nann joins forces with shadow puppeteer and theatre artist Annie Katsura Rollins, collaboratively exploring family lineage through the choices and experiences of three generations of women.
Chinese medicine cycles, the charts of Zodiac animal signs, and the duality of yin and yang all inform the work, within which the artists investigate family ties, fissures, and healing.
Firehorse and Shadow runs until May 30, with tickets granting access to the website throughout the entire month. See ExplorASIAN for more information about this performance and other events at the festival.
