Vancouver Cocktail Week announces 2023 lineup, March 5 to 11
Cocktail-paired dinners, masterclasses, and special Happy Hours among the highlights
Vancouver Cocktail Week takes place at various venues from March 5 to 11
NOW IN ITS second year, Vancouver Cocktail Week has released its 2023 programming details.
The celebration of cocktail culture kicks off with a cocktail-paired brunch at Botanist at the Fairmont Pacific Rim on March 5. From then on are dozens of ticketed events ranging from afternoon seminars and evening tastings to master classes, walking tours, cocktail- and spirit-paired dinners, and more.
Among the highlights: Oysters & Scotchtails at Bar Susu; Campari Negroni Hour (complete with Negroni fountain) at Homer St. Café and Bar; Late Night Bites & Tropical Gin Cocktails at Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions; Dinner at L’Abattoir with Simon Ford of Ford’s Gin; 5-Course Dinner and Bira! Rum Tasting at Calabash Bistro; and Chef’s Table Dinner with Amari Cocktail Pairings at Nightingale.
Cinq à Sept, meanwhile, is an unticketed series of Happy Hours that celebrate food, drink, and community. Many will feature guest shifts by out-of-town bartenders. Participating venues include Carlino, Chambar, Copperpenny Distilling Co., the Diamond, Gastronomy, Published on Main, and Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar.
New this year at the event presented by The Alchemist is VCW’s partnership with Diageo World Class Canada. The cocktail competition will host its national final speed round at the closing night’s Golden Era Gala, with previous winners flying in to host seminars and guest shifts throughout the week. The March 11 Golden Era Gala is a Prohibition-themed soirée at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s Pacific Ballroom. Live music, a DJ, food, and some 40-plus spirits brands will be on offer, with cocktails being crafted by leading bartenders from Vancouver and beyond.
A portion of ticket sales will go to the event’s charity partner, the BC Hospitality Foundation. The registered charity supports those in the hospitality industry facing a financial crisis due to a health condition and offers a scholarship program to foster the development of the next generation industry workers and leaders.
