Portland’s Amica Hunter gets to the heart of having a skeleton in hit solo show
Vancouver Fringe Festival presents Anatomica: A Comedy About Meat, Bones, & The Skin You’re In December 1 and 2 at the NEST Theatre on Granville Island
HERE’S A SHOW you can sink your teeth into: Anatomica: A Comedy About Meat, Bones, & The Skin You’re In is all about different skeletal structures. It’s the first full-length solo for Amica Hunter, who spent the past decade working with Portland physical-comedy duo A Little Bit Off.
In Anatomica, the queer, nonbinary, multidisciplinary artist and performer offers a guided meditation from the perspective of a worm, fun facts about so many animals, and a “butt-faced crab”, among other highlights. They blend drama, dance, music, comedy, clowning, story-telling, and visual arts while exploring the beauty and limitations of the human body. Hunter, who lives with chronic pain, imagines what it would be like to inhabit a body that’s completely foreign to us.
The December 2 show is already sold-out.
