Discover the work of more than 80 local artists located at 26 stops during the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour, taking place on Mother’s Day weekend, May 9 and 10.

From 10 am to 4 pm each day, venues across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows will open their doors for free self-guided tours of locally made artwork. Everyone is welcome at the 26th annual family-friendly event. The mediums featured include ceramics, fibre art, floristry, glasswork, illustration, jewellery, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, and woodworking.

Studio 12, located at 22935 Lougheed Highway, is home to K & K Custom Creations, a husband-and-wife artisan duo that specializes in live-edge woodworking. Katie and Kerry Tucker create custom artisanal and bespoke hardwood furniture, home decor, jewellery, and more, centred around lumber that is urban salvaged and ethically sourced from Canada.

Over at 21536 River Road, Studio 7 is highlighting the work of ceramicist Kerry McLaren, who makes everything from whimsical sculptures to practical tableware out of clay. She’ll be sharing the space with scenic painter Rob Egan, acrylic–mixed media artist Cindy Johnston, and acrylic and watercolour painter Val Wheaton.

One of the venues with the most artists onsite is Studio 2, the South Bonson Community Centre. Folks exhibiting there include painter Melody Fowler, textile and fibre artist Jennie Cole, photographers Kim Wright and Lea O’Shea, acrylic painter Glenn Bainbridge, acrylic–mixed media artist Linda Poon, textile artist and photographer Maureen Wouterloot, watercolour and acrylic painter Linda Nelson, and pastel and coloured pencil artist Kirk Deutschman. The centre is also hosting the Lower Mainland–based traditional rug-hooking group Gone Hooking, which works with wool.

Another hotspot at the tour is Studio 20, the Albion Community Centre, which is hosting five artists. They include three acrylic painters: Burnette Giles, Sarah Still, and Miranda Savage, who all depict animals and the natural world within their work. It also features the dynamic painters of the Stave Falls Artist Group, and Lauren Hazel, who celebrates the beauty and power of women with her paintings.

There are plenty more artists to learn about during the event. Browse a map and studio guide beforehand on the tour website.
